National Recycling Week

WHEN? November 8 - 14 Planet Ark founded National Recycling Week in November 1996 as a community campaign to bring a national focus to recycling and minimising waste and managing material resources. There are heaps of fun activities and events you can take part in. Check out recyclingweek.planetark.org to find an event in your area and to download activity sheets, information and fun stuff on recycling.

It's time to talk Trash. Recycling hits the streets. Once a fortnight in and around Cairns the Council provides kerbside recycling collection services to all residential properties.

Items that can be recycled include: glass bottles and jars, alumimium cans, steel food cans, newspapers, magazines, books, cardboard, egg cartons and some plastics.

Items that can't be recycled include: plastic bags, bubble wrap, polystyrene foam, pyrex glass, ovenware, cups, plates, wine and drinking glasses, juice or milk cartons, mirrors, light bulbs, nappies, batteries, syringes/needles.

So do your part: reduce, re-use or recycle.

DID YOU KNOW you could return plastic shopping bags to your supermarket for recycling?

Making a difference is easy to do!
